Stockyards

TIME : 2016/2/18 10:52:24

Western-wear stores and knickknack shops, saloons and steakhouses occupy the Old West–era buildings of the Stockyards. Don't miss the twice daily cattle drive (at 11:30am and 4pm) when cowboys drive a small herd of longhorn up Exchange Ave.

There's a lot to see and do in the area. You can ride a mechanical bull, get lost in a maze, visit a petting zoo, go horseriding, don Western gear for an old-time photo, take a vintage train ride (weekends only) or watch a rodeo . You can also explore the past at the Stockyards Museum and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame . Admission prices vary. A DIY highlight that you can do for free is wandering over to the pens where the longhorn cattle are kept. Catwalks overhead provide fine vantage points. The pens are located behind the Stockyards Museum, which lies opposite the visitor center on Exchange Ave.

Stop into the Visitor Center for info; you can also sign on for a guided walking tour that leaves from Stockyards Station.
