Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens

TIME : 2016/2/18 11:12:13

This unique and beautiful park celebrates the various ethnic groups of Hawaii by displaying a building for each one. Sharing the compact grounds are a traditional Hawaiian hale (house), a New England–style missionary home, a Filipino farmer’s hut, Japanese gardens and a Chinese pavilion, all of which can be seen in a 15-minute walk. But you’ll want to linger. Enlivened by ʻIao Stream, this a perfect picnic spot and a refreshing monument to social harmony.

A lone pine, or matsu, was planted atop the small hill overlooking the gardens. A symbol of longevity and perseverance, it honors the victims of the devastating Japanese earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
