Georgetown Loop Railroad Park

TIME : 2016/2/18 11:15:28

At first glance it looks simply like a small town train station, which, of course, it is. Stroll around and snap photos of the three vintage railroad cars in the hangar while you wait for the train to Georgetown. Four steam engine ($29.50) and five diesel ($22.50) powered trains make the run every day. The ride to Georgetown takes about one hour 15 min.

The Argentine Central Railway first passed through here in 1905 to serve the Argentine Mining District. They used Shay (or geared) locomotives to climb from Silver Plume up Mt McLellan, that's 16 miles and almost 3,941 feet in elevation. The train operated until 1918.
