Panaʻewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens

TIME : 2016/2/18 11:56:38

Four miles south of town, Hilo's sprawling 12-acre zoo is a nice freebie. Amid well-kept tropical gardens, see a global collection of monkeys, reptiles, sloths, parrots and more. The star is a white Bengal tiger named Namaste. Two play structures and a shaded picnic area make this a good family outing.

To get here, turn mauka (inland) off the Volcano Hwy onto W Mamaki St, just past the 4-mile marker.
