Robert Moses State Park, the only part of the island that’s accessible by car, lies at the westernmost end and features wide, soft-sand beaches with mellower crowds than those at Jones Beach. It’s also home to the Fire Island Lighthouse, which houses a history museum. Walk way east along the shore here and you’ll stumble upon a lively nude beach.
