At this inauspicious address, now the restaurant Wok & Roll, Lincoln's assassins met and plotted their scheme in 1865. The home's owner, Confederate sympathizer Mary Surratt, operated it as a boarding house. She eventually hanged at Fort McNair for her role in Lincoln's murder – the first white woman executed by the US federal government.
