Abbaye St

TIME : 2016/2/19 4:03:04

This peaceful monastery sits on the western shore of Lac Memphrémagog, the largest and best-known lake in the Eastern Townships, where most waterfront properties are privately owned. The monks’ chants, cider and finely made cheeses are famous throughout Québec, and people from throughout the province descend on the abbey’s shop to buy them along with jams, jellies, sweets and chocolate-covered blueberries.

Visitors can attend services (and join the monks in prayer and Gregorian chanting) at 7:30am, 11am and 5pm. There’s a hostel for men here and another for women at a nearby nunnery.
