Eco-Friendly and Upscale Dining in Cool Montreal

On the northern end of busy Boulevard Saint-Laurent, between the hipster coffee shops of the Mile End and the lively trattorias of Little Italy (and a stone throw's from popular Jean-Talon market), stands Pastaga, one of the few eco-responsible restaurants in the city. Indeed, Pastaga offers a refreshing market-based, farm-to-table cuisine that is almost entirely sourced by local farmers.

This gourmet emporium is the kind of place where people would have adorned their chicest outfit back in the days, ready for the promise of fine dining and sophisticated aromas. Instead, plaid-clad waiters and a quirky soundtrack complement the relatively low prices quite nicely - and yet, the quality of the food at Pastaga remained upscale despite the more relaxed dress code. Fancy food in a laid-back atmosphere in one of Montreal's fastest-growing neighborhood? Yes please.

Although Pastaga is a good option anytime it's open, locals know to head up there for brunch - if the pulled pork eggs benedict or the pear pancakes are on the menu, you're in luck.
