Museo del Estado

TIME : 2016/2/18 9:59:31

This free museum of Michoacano history is a slightly dusty and haphazard affair, but packs in plenty of information from prehistoric times to first contact with the conquistadors. Pre-Hispanic arrowheads, ceramic figures, bone jewelry and a shimmering quartz skull can be found downstairs. Upstairs are first-person accounts of how force-fed religion coupled with systematic agricultural and economic development tamed the region’s indigenous soul. Labeling is in Spanish only.
