Home to a wide range of the world’s creatures in large open-air enclosures, the Chapultepec zoo was the first place outside China where pandas were born in captivity. The zoo has two of these rare bears, descendants of the original pair donated by the People’s Republic in 1975. Endangered Mexican species include the Mexican grey wolf and the hairless xoloitzcuintle, the only surviving dog breed from pre-Hispanic times.
