Llano Grande Waterfall

Llano Grande Waterfall

Located near Huatulco in the municipality of San Miguel del Puerto, the Llano Grande Waterfall is an ideal spot for hiking, swimming and even rappelling. Its shallow pools and multiple cascading waterfalls give ample opportunity for all kinds of water activities.
Climb a tree, swing on the rope suspended over a 20-foot platform and land in the pristine waters below, or take a leap off the rocks of the main pool into the lower second pool, then climb up and do it all over again. Those with a little less desire for leaving the ground can also easily just splash around in the cool pools of the cascade, letting the waterfall beat down and massage your back.
The Llano Grande waterfall is part of a tributary of the Copalita River, the Copalitilla, and is near the La Gloria coffee plantation, about a 90-minute drive from Huatulco. It’s a drive over rough, unpaved roads with little to no signage, so having an experienced guide to get you there is definitely helpful.
There’s a 1.5-mile hike along a river trail that starts at the car park and goes to the waterfall, so be prepared for the walk. A higher trail is also an option if you’re more adventurous.

Practical Info

Entrance to the Llano Grande waterfall is 50 pesos per person ($3.70). Bring waterproof walking shoes, a dry change of clothes and other necessities like a hat, bug spray and sunblock.
