Commander Carlos Fonseca, the Sandinista equivalent of Malcolm X (read: bespectacled, goateed, intense, highly intelligent and charismatic), grew up desperately poor in this humble adobe with his single mother and four siblings, despite the fact that his father was a coffee magnate. Now it’s a tiny but enthralling museum that follows his evolution as a leader from childhood until his death.
