The classic Paul Hogan comedy Crocodile Dundee was filmed partly in tiny McKinlay, your first stop after Cloncurry when coming from Mt Isa. The renamed Walkabout Creek Hotel is a pretty typical outback pub except this one is loaded with film memorabilia and assorted Australiana. There are small and basic motel units a block west of the pub, or there’s a camping ground out the back.
