Backed by palms, this broad stretch of squeaky sand reaches as far as you can squint. There's a swimming enclosure in front of the surf life-saving club. In ye olde days, planes used to land on Four Mile, so firm is its sand.
For a fine view over the beach, follow Wharf St and the steep Island Point Rd to Flagstaff Hill Lookout .
