Moonta Visitor Information Centre has a smattering of history pamphlets, and details on the Moonta Heritage Site 1.5km east of town. The site includes the excellent Moonta Mines Museum , once a grand school with 1100 pupils; the Old Sweet Shop across the road (built 1846); and a fully restored Miner's Cottage .
