Top 5 safari plunge pools

TIME : 2016/2/26 10:22:08

Obviously there is a lot more to a good and proper safari than whether or not your suite has a private plunge pool BUT we cant deny that between game drives, walks or boat safaris it can be heaven to relax in your private plunge pool often these little pieces of heaven also overlook rivers, waterholes or simply stunning views, making them all the more enticing. All of those people who are anti plunge pools whilst on safari should really eat their words, as many of the top properties which have the plunge pools, also have hired the best guides and are in some of the most spectacular locations in all of Africa, as well often offering more included in their safaris, such as fly camping, night drives and a higher level of freedom to explore the bush as you like of course that is a generalization and there are always exceptions, some of the best safaris can also be with a mosquito net and a comfy mattress, exploring some of the most remote parts of this stunning continent. Anyway if you did feel like a private plunge pool would make your safari, here are the top five:

Amara, Selous, Tanzania

Your plunge pool at Amara overlooks the lush shores of the mighty Ruaha River, where impala and waterbuck graze happily, and beyond them the resident hippos and crocs can provide hours of fun whilst happily lazing in your pool. The Selous also gets mercilessly hot so a dip can be a welcome relief from the midday heat. Amara really do have some of the best guides and are in one of the most remote areas of the Selous, so this camp is just as serious a safari camp as any other youll visit.

Sasaab, Samburu, Kenya

Sasaab is in the Westgate Conservancy bordering Samburu National Park this stunning conservancy is vast and the freedom here to explore is unrivalled head out with the Samburu and their camels on foot, exploring uncharted territory without another vehicle or person in sight, before returning to your luxurious suite, and jumping straight into your plunge pool which has the most dramatic views of the Ewaso Nyiro River, and any elephants and other species that will surely be using it.

Granite Suites, Sabi Sands, South Africa

The Granite Suites are exclusive and intimate situated in the famous Londolozi Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands area of the Kruger. Game viewing here is prolific, and the suites are built seamlessly into the smooth rocks that surround them here you really feel part of the bush, especially when in your plunge pool which is set amongst the rock formations themselves. Game viewing from these pools is exciting and you will often see some of the big five making their way through camp.

Sasakwa is part of the Grumeti Reserves which also offer one of the ultimate safari experiences with excellent guides, riding safaris, fly and mobile camping, walking and numerous conservation projects going on in the vast private reserve.

Chinzombo is a new camp, which has everyone incredibly excited. Set in its own little part of the game rich South Luangwa these exclusive suites all have their own plunge pool so in between walking safaris and game drives with Africas best guides (guiding laws in Zambia are much stricter, so the guiding here is a higher quality anyway) you can enjoy an utterly spoiling afternoon spent in your own piece of paradise in the bush.
