Pemayangtse Monastery
This Monastery is located on a hilltop and was built by Lhatsun Chenpo during the reign of the 3rd Chogyal, Chagdor Namgyal in the 17th century. Situated at an altitude of 6840 ft., this is one of the oldest monasteries of the Nyngmapa sect of Mahanaya Buddhism. It is about 6 Kms from Gyalsing, the headquarters of West district.
Rabdentse Ruins
This place was once the capital of the erstwhile Kingdom of Sikkim. The King of Sikkim had ruled the State from here till 1814 AD. The ruins lie away from the main road near the Pemayagtse Monastery.
Pelling
Pelling, situated at an altitude of 6,800 ft., is an emerging tourist destination in West Sikkim. It is 10 Kms from Gyalsing and offers spectacular panoramic view of the mountain ranges.
Sanga-Choling Monastery
This monastery is situated on a ridge above Pelling and can be reached only after at least 40 minutes walk up the steep hill. It is one of the oldest monasteries in the State that was constructed in 1697 AD.
Khecheopairi Lake
This is a sacred lake in this State important for both the Buddhist and the Hindus. Lying inside the rich forest, the lake is accessible through rnotorable road from Pemayangtse.
Yuksum
This was the first capital of Sikkim which is historically important for the consecration of the first Chogyal of the Sikkim in 1641 AD. The evidence of the ceremony is still intact in Norbugang Chorten. Yuksam is 32 Kms from Pemayangtse and is connected by all weather roads. It is the start point the Dzongri trek and to the base camp of Mt Khanchanjunga. Accommodation is available here.

Dubdi Monastery
This was the first monastery to be established after the consecration of the first Chogyal. It is located on a hilltop above Yuksam surrounded by verdant forest and can be approached by trekking only.
Tashiding Monastery
This monastery is constructed on top of a heart shaped hill which is believed to be the spot from where Guru Padrna Sambhava (Guru Rimpoche) blessed the sacred land of Sikkirn in the 8th century AD. However, it was built in the 18th Century AD by Ngadak Sempa Chempo. Tashiding is also famous for the holy chorten known as 'Thong-Wa-Rang-Doi' which has power to wash away the sins of the devotees.
