Moonhole is a private community on the island of Bequia (Bek-way) in the Grenadines. Moonhole derives its name from a large arch formed in volcanic substrate through which the setting moon is sometimes visible.
Moonhole is a collection of over0 free-form homes melting from the rocky crags of the island's rough sea cliffs. The idea was to generate homes that were purely natural and thus are built without windows or doors. The whole place is fraction of natural world, with tree twigs twisting their way through bedrooms and lizards scampering across mud-packed kitchen floors. Not of the walls or ceilings are even close to being conventional as all are curving or sloping in a way that is reminiscent of the eroding mud of the cliff's the homes are built from.
Today about half of these distinctive treasures have been restored and hand out as a resort, of sorts. There is no power, but lamp is provided and some have solar panels.
As the Grenadines have historically in the past been reserved for those of the sailing type, cannot pass up a chance to see the islands from aboard a classic Caribbean schooner. The companionship Rose, a made of wood ship build in Bequia's Friendship Bay, offers every day sailing excursions departing from Admiralty Launched in 1966, The acquaintance Rose was originally commissioned to over fertilizer flanked by the islands, previous to becoming the Grenadines bureaucrat mail boat and later serving as the ferry between Bequia in addition to St. Vincent. these days its sole liability is to usher tourist to and from Bequia villa rental and such romantic Grenadine destination as Mystiques, Canaan and the Tobago Cays.
If there is only time for sailing tour, then it must be to the reef-ringed and white sand swept Tobago Cays. The collection of uninhabited and natural islands that comprise the National Maritime Park is the ideal place to spend a water-themed adventure. One time here you can spend their day exploring the underwater treasures of Horseshoe Reef, where the film Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed, or enjoy a calming rest on of the numerous desert island beaches.
Irrespective of the way you expend your day, nil beats believable in the canvass group hammocks strung between the ship's towering made of wood masts, digest your epicurean lunch and enjoy the collision of the pure blue sky with a blue tie-dyed sea. This is the spirit of the Grenadines' brilliance.
