1Time Flights to Durban

TIME : 2016/3/18 11:52:12
Once your 1Time to Durban flight has touched down, you might be interested in taking a tour of the city. Unless you plan on renting a car, getting into the city itself from King Shaka International Airport means a fun jaunt on clean, comfortable public transport.

Shuttle buses leave for Durban approximately every 30 minutes from the airport. You can pick one up outside international departures (not far from where you disembarked from your 1Time to Durban flight) and you won't have to make any bookings beforehand. Tickets for Durban are charged at a reasonable R70, dropping you off at a number of places including the marine parade, the ICC, Moses Mabhida soccer stadium, North and South beaches, the Durban bus station and uShaka Marine World. Buses run Monday to Sunday from 5am to 10pm. Safe and economical, the shuttle bus also picks you up and returns you to the airport should you need it. Alternatively, a number of taxis and limos operate from the airport as well, but with Durban lying at least a 20 minute drive on the highway away, it can tend toward the expensive.

Once in Durban, a wonderful way to tour the city CBD with ease and comfort is on the People Mover bus. Catering explicitly for tourists, the People Mover proved to be a phenomenal success at the recent FIFA World Cup, handling the considerable demands with aplomb. It's modern, air conditioned and easily comparable with any major European city bus service. It's safe too, fitted with closed circuit surveillance cameras and employing wardens at every on/off zone. The People Mover runs from 6am to 11.30pm every day along two interlinking routes which cover all the beachfront and inner city attractions. Among these, the welter of spicy fragrances at the Victorian Street Market (on Victoria Street) and the stately grand dame that is the Playhouse Theatre (Smith Street) are not to be missed.

A day ticket on the People Mover goes for R15 and a single trip fare costs R5.
