Quick Disclaimer: You should always remember that any camping tips we give you are just advice, they are not "rules" or "laws. What may help someone else may not always help you, and vice versa. Different scenarios call for different actions. That being said, it doesn't make camping tips useless. These tips should at least stop you from making any beginner mistakes that could potentially put you in harms way.

The first tip is: Be Prepared! The best tips are those that prepare you for your journey. If you haven't already, we highly recommend reading our Camping Essentials Guide and Checklist for all of your necessities. Reading and following that list is CRUCIAL, we can not stress preparation enough!

Do not fret about grabbing each and every camping supply on the list, just tailor it to what you anticipate needing for your camping adventure. It is not beneath you to have a camping list; it doesn't make you any less cool if you don't - even the most frequent campers will have their checklists with them.

Tip Number 2: Foot Apparel is Important! Unless you are just going to be staying in or very near your campsite, the right foot apparel is going to be important. Don't drive to a campsite wearing dress shoes or high heels, you will NOT be comfortable. Should you go on a hiking trail you'll need to have high quality foot protection. A pair of boots or hiking shoes will do multiple things, such as guarding feet, letting them breathe, repelling water, having traction and grip, and be easy to walk in. Cushion and comfort of the foot apparel should not go unnoticed, as bad foot apparel can lead to blisters and an all around unhappy time.

#3: Grab a Reliable and Spacious Backpack! Take a look at all of things you will be taking on your trip and then find a backpack that can fit most of the items comfortably. You should also try the backpack on for size and make sure it feels snug and secure on your body, as you may be carrying it for long periods of time. A very useful feature is if the backpack is rain/water proof as this can save many of your things if you're ever in a wet situation. Take the time to pack your bag carefully so that everything fits easily, this can even make your backpack feel less heavy.

The fourth tip: Be Ready to Encounter an Animal! Going for a hike in the woods puts gives you a high probability of encountering an animal of some sort. Most times it will be an innocent rabbit or squirrel, but there will be times were you might run into a bear or lion. The "expert" hikers like to recommend having a walking stick when you leave your campsite so that you can ward off animals with it. They will also suggest that you never bend down in front of the animal, as it makes you look smaller and less intimidating.

As you can see, good tips are your camping essentials. You should always be on the lookout for more camping tips, especially those that promote camping safety.
