Picking the Best Ground Blinds

TIME : 2016/3/18 14:36:02
With numerous types of ground blinds picking just one can be a daunting task. A hunting ground blind is employed to give shooters and hunters coverage while hunting prey in the comfort of a modest to huge house-like structure which makes them invisible (maybe not really invisible but covered) to deer. When looking for a ground blind essentially the most crucial things to be aware of is what sized blind do you need for the hunt. Smaller blinds work well for rifle hunting but when you plan on bow hunting you may need a much larger blind which has enough space so that you can draw your bow. You'll also want to consider the landscape in the location you will be hunting in and get a blind that will blend into the site. Blinds range from chair blinds, small shooting buildings, and enormous multi-purpose hunting blinds.

Chair Blinds

Chair blinds perform excellent whenever rifle hunting in areas which demand some walking or when your travel range is longer. A chair hunting blind does not offer very much room for anything at all but your self and you will more than likely have to wear some kind of face mask because most don't possess front screens or mesh coverings. An advantage to chair blinds is that they offer you great flexibility and comfort with out weighing a large amount.

Small Ground Hunting Blinds

These hunting blinds are usually pyramid shaped and have an average footprint of around 60x60. Small blinds work nicely for rifle or shotgun hunting of deer and turkey but you are limited when bow or crossbow hunting because of the pyramid design. Most are offered in a wide range of camo options so it's important to know your hunting area so you can blend right in. The average weight of these smaller blinds is usually less than 10 lbs making them great for shorter travel distances or hunters with bad backs. One of the more popular blinds in the small portable hunting blind category is the Ameristep Outhouse featuring the standard pyramid design and coming in at approximately 10 lbs. it is a ultimate example a portable hunting blind.

Large Hunting Ground Blinds

Larger ground blinds are great for the gamesman who doesn't have to handle their blinds over very long distances or they have use of the hunting spot by motorized vehicle. These hunting blinds are larger in size and weight but will work for almost all types of rifle and bow hunting. The hottest of these blinds feature fine mesh windows that you can shoot through so there's no need to unzip something when that huge buck comes walking by. Average weight of these blinds is about 16 lbs. but can reach upwards of 25 lbs based on size and construction material so be careful when looking for cheap ground blinds.

Personally, I would advise investing in a long lasting set of small blinds that are around 60x60. This gives ample room for one person, or just enough room for two if you're training a friend of son on how to hunt. They also are typically fairly light, making the trip out and back easier - particularly if you're returning with a large catch from the day out.
