Bali departure tax goes up

TIME : 2016/2/25 13:44:53

Visitors to Bali will get a little kick in the rear when they leave. The airport tax for foreigners is now 150,000rp, up from 100,000rp. For most people this isn’t a big deal, but for families with kids it’s another negative, takes some of the edge off of those good Aussie dollar rates.

Here is how Bali Discovery explains it.

Some years ago I was leaving flying out of Manila back to Hong Kong after a diving holiday. Down to my last $10 I found the airport tax was $20 and had to generate the last $10 by selling items in my backpack to a fellow traveler. You don’t want to go that route, so remember to have a couple of hundred rupiah extra when leaving, to take care of the departure tax and any ‘mishaps’ that need to be cleared up.
