Internet in Semiyak Bali

TIME : 2016/2/25 13:52:51

This has been a challenging day to get online in Seminyak Bali. My home connection hasn’t worked all day, the local cafes have a super slow connection. The current one I’m at has some kind of software issue, but anyway, that Indonesia, take it or leave it.

Latest happenings for my family is that little Jevon found out what ‘hot’ means. He already knew, but that was re-enforced last night at Blue Ocean restaurant in Legian. Ika and I were enjoying some excellent food, her the chicken kung pao, myself the mahi mahi, when Jevon leaned over and placed his forefinger on the metal bull (hotplate) that Ika’s food was served on. Little bugger howled for an hour, during which time an older foreign women let Ika know that she was a bad mother, as Jevon’s crying was play acting.

Big news in my neighboorhood is a good chunk of Jl. Seminyak has been resurfaced including the alley next to Bintang supermarket. Amazing how fast the roads deteriorate in Bali and how bad they get. Our drive up to Batukaru the other day would amaze any first time Bali visitor, the pots holes getting larger until finally all the surface was stripped off of the road! The methods used ot make roads out here has a lot to do with the speed at which they deteriorate.

Today I watched a bunch of men shoveling gravel from a moving pick-up truck, to be spread out. A man walking swinging a tar bucket with about 10 holes in, followed. Its not high tech but if its all you’ve got go for it.

Finally found an internet cafe with a good connection. The staff in place don’t know their ass from their elbow, but the speed is good. Its called Internet Extension (Jl. Dhyana Pura). 15,000rp per hour.
