Schapelle Corby story worth a fortune in Bali

TIME : 2016/2/25 13:55:52

The Schapelle Corby saga continues with its latest exciting chapter. Sister Mercedes (is that name perfect for the made-for-TV movie!) is suing a former friend in Australia, after she claimed drug smuggling had been discussed in years past. On another front, Schapelle’s book, My Story is causing all kinds of static for the publishers.

My Story was actually written by journalist Kathryn Bonella, who was smart enough to be ‘heads-up’ as far as the payment angle. She knew the Australian government might try to freeze the proceeds from the book, so arranged with the publisher to divert funds to Mercedes Corby’s Balinese husband.

According to The Orstrahyun proceeds from the book deal aren’t the only source of income for Schapelle. When the feature film come out the rights will be worth a bundle. Remember Evil Angels? (‘a dingo’s got my baby’), the Schapelle movie is going to blow that out of the water. There are a few pieces of the jigsaw still left to find (jilted lover, romance angle, murder, long lost relative etc. ) but there’s no reason to doubt all of these won’t happen sooner or later, considering the capacity of the Corby clan at hitting the headlines.

I’m already thinking ahead as to who could best portray the stars of this epic. Here’s a few off the top of my head:

Schapelle – J-Lo
Mercedes – Sandra Bullock
Roselie Rose – Roseanne Barr
Ron Bakir – Sylvester Stallone
Mick Keelty – Harrison Ford
Hotman Paris Hutapea – Carlos Santana
Corby relatives – audience of Jerry Springer show

What are your casting skills like?
