Jevon’s immunisasi: Denpasar Bali

TIME : 2016/2/25 14:03:58

Jevon in now 1.5 years and seems to be getting along very well. As part of his development, we have a schedule of immunisasi (immunizations) that happen at Puri Bunda, the hospital were he was born in Denpasar. Today he got a polio jab which cost 465,000rp.

Puri Bunda is located on Jl. Gatut Subroto in Denpasar, the wide street that circles the city to the north. By taxi it takes around 30 minutes from my house in Seminyak, by motorbike about 20. Today we took the bike, after we all decided the taxis are pain in the neck, expensive and driver often play the ‘I have no change’ game.

Puri Bunda is clean and modern and is recommended. For Jevon’s birth, which included a private room with meals, doctor, nurses, medication and visits after the birth, the bill was around $750.
Going to the clinic / hospital in Indonesia, is different from a western country. When I was a kid, I’d go with my mother and siblings. Here in Bali, its a family outing, mother, father and kids, all dressed like they are going somewhere. In the past Ika vehemently opposed me ending her alone in taxi, telling me I had to come. The reason was that a solo mother, with a ‘campur‘ (mixed) kid wouldn’t look good.

Our visit went smoothly, Ika booking us into 7th spot in the line, by phone. Total time at Puri Bunda, about 35 minutes. Jevon cried “Mummy, mummy!” for a few minutes after his shot in the backside, but riding home he was fine.
