Bali: Paradise Lost? – Inside Kerobokan jail

TIME : 2016/2/25 14:10:13

Bali: Paradise Lost?‘ is the title of a new book, by author Emma Tom. The book discusses the Bali tourist industry, Balinese people’s relationship with the Javanese, who often own land here and Australia’s part in the whole show. The book also talks about Schapelle Corby and the Bali Nine.

Emma Toms visited a member of the Bali Nine, in Kerobokan jail, gaining an insight to daily life and how the place operates. Its pretty grim for longterm prisoners without outside support. If you want to visit a prisoner in Kerobokan, bring some snacks / drinks and be ready to pay 20,000rp to get in. When you arrive its a bit of a shoving match, and you have to write down the name of the person you want to see. They can refuse to see you.

Its unlikely you’ll get to visit with Schapelle Corby.
