Autumn leaves in Nikko is a beautiful HD video shot by Discover Japan in 2014. Located 125 km from Tokyo, Nikko National Park is one of Japan’s most beautiful nature locales. The park spreads over four prefectures: Tochigi, Gunma, Fukushima, and Niigata, and was established in 1934. Nikko and the Okunikko area around Lake Chuzenji, in particular, are known for beautiful autumn colors.

The earliest colors usually debut in the highest mountain peaks in Okunikko in early October and slowly roll down the slopes, reaching the lower areas around Toshogu Shrine by mid November.

Nikko has many spots for viewing the gorgeous autumn foliage. Lake Chuzenji and Yumoto Onsen is particularly nice for autumn leaves. With various routes perfect for both the novice and adventurous hiker, a visit to the Nikko National Park is not to be missed.
