The main access point for visitors to Okinawa is the Naha Airport, often referred to as the Okinawa Airport. It has both an international and domestic building, which are located only 100 meters apart. The airport sets the stage for the tropical island feel, with tropical plants and fish tanks featuring local marine life. The terminals were upgraded in 1999, and have a complete array of shops and restaurants, plus a children’s area and game center.

Typhoons are common in Okinawa, especially from July through September, and flights are delayed or canceled if there is any risk of danger. The Naha airport is accustomed to dealing with this; you should contact your carrier directly if you have any questions about what to do.
