Hua Hin Shopping Guide - Find where and what to shop and buy

TIME : 2016/2/24 13:46:46

Despite not being widely regarded as an excellent location for shopping, Hua Hin does in fact have some excellent opportunities for anyone looking to shop. The town has become something of a hub for contemporary art, with a number of small galleries to browse in while for those into fashion, there are numerous tailors offering unique designs made to measure.

For the ladies out there, handbags, jewelry, clothing and accessories are all found in abundance and of course, beach wear is found on every corner. Glasses — both sunglass and prescriptions glasses — are a fraction of the price they are in the West and souvenirs abound.

Some of the best places to shop in Hua Hin include the local markets. Bartering here is the norm. Have a good look round to find some very unusual and cheap gifts. Other shopping outlets include small shopping malls, independent boutiques and craft shops.

Hua Hin Market Village

Market Village is the only large-scale shopping mall in Hua Hin. It is also an entertainment complex and comes complete with a number of brand named stores, a food hall, a cinema and electronic shops. It covers three floors and takes a few hours to explore.

Hua Hin Night Market

The night market in Hua Hin is one of the most popular attractions in the city. It opens every evening from 18:30 and boasts a wide array of clothing, souvenirs, jewelry and food stalls. You can literally find something for everyone here. It is also one of the best places in the city to shop for handicrafts.

Grand Market

Very popular with Thai tourists, this is the place to stock up your DVD collection. You will also find very cheap clothing stalls, traditional Thai food, flowers and fruit. It is open every day from the crack of dawn through until early evening.

Pae Market

Held every Tuesday close to the driving range at the Royal Hua Hin Golf Club, this market is essentially a local market but a great place to people watch as well as one of the cheapest places to shop in the city. It offers a fascinating insight into real Thai life.

Beachside shopping

The beachside stalls running along the main beach road are the best places to find all of your beachwear needs. Bikinis, swimming shorts, sunglasses, hats, fashion accessories and souvenirs are found in abundance. Bartering is necessary to get the best price.

House of June

Located on Petchakasem Road, this is one of the best independent boutiques in the city. While it is not particularly cheap (when compared to other Thai shops) you will find some beautiful designs at affordable prices.

Khomapastr

Founded in 1949, Khomapastr is one of Thailand's most treasured brands. It mainly sells cotton produce and the store has been open for over 60 years in Hua Hin. Their products make excellent gifts and there is something to suit everyone.

Hua Hin shopping tips

Shopping in Hua Hin is available all year round, although the best deals can be found throughout the Christmas period when many shops have fantastic sales. However, there is always a sale on somewhere and if you like markets, you will be in your element as these are open year-round and sell goods at very affordable prices.
