Buddhist Public Holiday in Thailand

TIME : 2016/2/24 18:37:07

Today and tomorrow are public holidays in Thailand with government offices closed. Although many shops will be open, a number of bars and entertainment venues may be closed or have a more subdued atmosphere than normal. Those that do remain open may be discrete about serving alcohol so if you do visit a bar that is open don’t be surprised if the music has been turned down and your Singha beer is served in a tea cup! This is because today is Asahna Bucha Day and tomorrow is Wan Khao Phansa. Both days are important in the Buddhist calendar and traditionally many Thai people decide to abstain from alcohol on these days and make merit at the local temple.
