Hotel Review: Bossotel Hotel, Bangkok

TIME : 2016/2/24 18:37:30

My family visited me in Thailand last month and we spent two nights in Bangkok at the end of their trip. I decided to book a stay at the Bossotel Hotel because the location was convenient for everything we had planned including a dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River and a visit to one of Bangkok’s best rooftop bars, the Sky Bar.

Rooms

We had three separate rooms on two different floors. The two rooms on Floor 6 were decent enough, but only one room had a view and a window which allowed natural light. My room was on Floor 4 and again had no view or natural light. This was disappointing, but for a stay of two nights wasn’t a big deal.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and a reasonable size. My room had plenty of wardrobe space and an electronic safe. The television was small and not very modern, but it worked and the picture quality was good so no complaints. The bathroom was quite dated, but it was clean and the shower was excellent.

The only real problem with my particular room (and not with the other two rooms we booked) was the noise from the adjoining room. This wasn’t helped by the fact that I had been put in a room which would normally be an inter-connecting room with a wooden door (obviously locked) that allowed in a lot of noise. Fortunately, being a Thailand veteran I always pack a set of earplugs so I managed a good night’s sleep despite the noise from next door.

Food

The only time we ate at the hotel was for breakfast which was included in the price of our booking and the food was reasonable. This was a breakfast buffet with a choice of cereals, fruit, bacon, eggs, cooked meats, bread/toast, pastries, juice, coffee and tea. With two different rooms where guests can eat, getting a seat was never a problem at the times we were there (approximately 08.00)

Facilities and Staff

The hotel has a tour desk in the lobby area and also a small internet room. The staff were quite friendly and check-in and check-out was efficient.

Location

The Bossotel Hotel is on Charoen Krung (New Road) very close to the Shangri-La Hotel. The location of the Bossotel was the main reason we booked our stay here because it was ideal for everything we wanted to do in and around Bangkok. From the hotel it is approximately a 5 minute walk to the Skytrain station at Saphan Thaksin and just behind the Skytrain station is the Sathorn river pier. For great views of Bangkok, I also recommend a rooftop cocktail at the nearby Sky Bar at The Dome which is only a few minutes walk away from the Bossotel Hotel.

Summary

For the price paid, the hotel was good and we were pleased with our stay here. The Bossotel has its faults and if I was staying in Bangkok on a longer stay I would probably look for a different hotel. However, for a short stay the Bossotel Hotel provides good value for money for a budget hotel.
