Children’s Day

TIME : 2016/2/24 18:42:43

Today has been Children’s Day in Thailand, an annual event that takes place on the second Saturday in January. The day marks how important children are in Thai life and many will have enjoyed the free rides and events laid on to keep the youngsters happy.

As a general rule, Thai adults will make a big fuss of any children, not just their own. It’s quite common to see a Thai baby being passed around a host of people all telling the parents how cute the baby is before handing it back to the mother or father. If you are travelling to Thailand with your own youngsters, don’t be surprised (or alarmed) when Thai people start to make a fuss of your offspring. It’s just a natural extension of how Thais treat their own children and, unlike some countries where youngsters can be seen as a noisy nuisance, means that children are made particularly welcome in hotels and restaurants.
