Location

If you want an unobstructed view of the majestic Suthep Mountain, stay on Suthep Rd, Huay Kaew Rd, Canal Rd, Nimmanhemin Rd or around parts of the Super Highway. If you want both the town and the mountain stay on Chang Puak Rd, Boonruangrit Rd, Aommuang Rd or Arak Rd.

If you choose the Ping River stay on Wang Sing Kham Rd, Faharm Rd, Charoenrajd Rd or Koh Klang Faharm Rd.

If you are interested in night life and want a downtown location find a hotel on Thapae Rd, Chang Moi Rd, Kotchasarn Rd, Moonmuang Rd or Chaiyaphum Rd.

If you intend to travel out of Chiang Mai to the surrounding districts and provinces, the Super Highway, Charoenrajd Rd, Charoen Muang Rd, Kaew Nawarat Rd, Wang Sing Kham Rd and Faharm Rd will provide you easy access to national and provincial highways and you will still be a short ride away from downtown CM.

There are about 100 hotels. Most good hotels have their own souvenir shops, swimming pools, saunas, health fitness centers, discotheques, and vehicles for rent. The price for a standard hotel double room ranges between 250-4,000 Baht.

    Guest Houses

    There are about 150 guest houses, often characterized by their small size, wood structures and traditionally decorated interiors. GH’s provide a comfortable, peaceful option. A positive aspect is their economical rates which range between 100-800 Baht per night. GH’s anywhere in Thailand provide simple, clean rooms and many also have food and drinks, vehicles for rent, tourist information and services and jungle trek guides. An excellent option for an economical, clean and comfortable stay.

    Resorts

    There are about 25 resorts located near Chiang Mai with options of staying in beautiful gardens, near a waterfall, in a peaceful mountainous area, or by a lazy river. Because of the emphasis on nature, most resorts are situated out of town on such scenic routes as the Mae Rim-Samoeng Rd, the Fang-Tha Ton Rd, and the Hang Dong Chom Thong-Hod Rd. You can rent a one-room bungalow, a multi-room bungalow, or a large cabin. Tariffs range from 500-2,000 Baht per standard room per night.

    Apartments

    Yet another economical option. You can rent a condominium or apartment room for between 100-800 Baht per night. It is also possible to rent a room by the month at a slightly lower rate. Room cleaning service provided for both short and long term but do not expect anything else. There are about 15 condominiums and apartments of this type with about 600 rooms available.
