TIME : 2016/2/23 17:43:53

You’ll struggle to decide where to stay in York because the rivers have beautiful views, the outskirts of the city provide a peaceful, countryside feel and the city center has the buzz of everyone coming together. From spa hotels to hostels, B&Bs to value for money hotels, York offers them all. With bus links reaching all corners of the city and further afield, you won’t be far from the main attractions, wherever you stay.

On the outskirts

If you’re looking for a quiet place to retreat to at the end of your day, Middlethorpe Hall & Spa overlooks the Racecourse and boasts 20 acres of peaceful gardens. With 5-star service, nothing is too much for the staff to make your stay perfect. Alhambra Court is a cosy hotel located in Bootham, near the museum gardens, and welcomes their guests with friendly services and a peaceful night’s sleep. In the heart of the countryside you’ll find The Parsonage Country House, with a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and beautiful surroundings, it’s the perfect holiday getaway.

City center

If you want to be in the middle of the excitement there are plenty of options. Farthings Guest House is right in the center, offering a hearty breakfast and immaculate rooms, making guests feel right at home, whereas the Four Seasons is a little more upmarket and boasts flawless reviews from all of their guests. Blossoms Guesthouse is only minutes away from the restaurants and shops and each room has an en-suite bathroom and a TV, with Wi-Fi available in social areas.

Hostels

Hostels are an excellent way of saving money whilst travelling whether you’re looking to get away on a budget or you’d like more money to spend on food and souvenirs. The Youth Hostel Association in Clifton has recently benefitted from a £2million renovation and has social Wi-Fi, a café and is incredibly family friendly. Ace York also has a fantastic reputation and has a range of different rooms available with lockers, bicycle hire and a games room so you’ll be able to enjoy yourself in the hostel and when you’re out exploring York. Taking a slightly different approach, Churchiew B&B is just outside the city, in Stockton on Forest, and caters for large groups including stag / hen parties. They are close to transportation links and the friendly staff are happy to accommodate whatever needs you may have.
