Chicago in June

TIME : 2016/2/25 14:33:52

June is one of my favorite months in Chicago. Summer is definitely here, but the extreme heat and humidity of July and August have yet to descend upon the city. Flowers are blooming, the city is green, the beaches are open (but not yet packed), and patios, beer gardens, and rooftop decks all around the city are open for business.

Though you may still get a chilly snap for a few days in June, overall, temperatures range from 61-80°F , with warm days and cooler nights. June is also the rainiest month of the year though, so interspersed with those bright sunny days, you’ll also find a few gray, wet ones, so pack for every contingency – layers, an umbrella and sunglasses will get equal use on your trip.

There is so much to see and do in Chicago in June. From farmers markets and the free Lincoln Park zoo to live music at Ravinia, Cubs games at Wrigley Field, street festivals in every neighborhood, and cruises on the river and lake, you can easily fill several days with activities. On rainy days, check out the city’s best museums, and when the  temperatures rise, head to one of Chicago’s many beaches.
