Mt. Everest India’s Cuisine

TIME : 2016/2/25 16:00:31

Sink your teeth into tender lamb, flavorful curried dishes and a vast selection of naan at Mt. Everest India’s Cuisine. Located off of the Las Vegas Strip, this local Indian restaurant is housed in an old Burger King building and appears unsuspecting from the outside, but inside is a vast menu with several authentic appetizers, meat-heavy and vegetarian-friendly entrees, a selection of desserts and Indian-inspired beverages.

During the day, Mt. Everest India’s Cuisine opens up a lunch buffet for $8.99, which is particularly popular with locals. Buffets can be a bit touch and go in Las Vegas, but most people agree that the food is hot and fresh, the flavors pop and the selection is extensive with a few meat-friendly options as well as choices for vegetarians. Naan is served to the table, which is particularly appreciated during the midday rush.

The restaurant is closed for a couple of hours between mealtimes, and then at 5:00 it opens again for dinner. At night, patrons can select from a large menu of options. If you’re not sure where to start, there is an appetizer sampler with a little bit of everything. Other appetizer selections include kebabs, samosas and specialty naan, which range from $3.99-$5.99.

Entree options include those served with lamb, chicken or vegetables. Many are smothered in flavorful Indian sauces (you can specify spiciness), and rice is served on the side. The dishes are large and, if you’re not a huge eater, one entree is sufficient for two people.

On the beverage menu, choose from classic soda options or spring for something more authentic. The mango lassi is thick, fresh and cool (and served in a huge glass!) while the chai tea adds that “at-home” touch to any meal.

Mt. Everest India’s Cuisine is one of those places that tends to fly under the radar in comparison to other Las Vegas restaurants, but those who have dined here are generally very happy about the service and rave about the food. Look beyond the nondescript exterior and even fairly simple but clean and welcoming interior for the cuisine. The parking lot for Mt. Everest India’s Cuisine is shared with a grocery store in the same complex and it can be quite busy at times.

Located at 3641 West Sahara Avenue. Open 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
