Northern Territory, Lake Bennett Resort

dsc01366.JPGPeace and tranquility combined with modern amenities mean you can get away from it all without having to rough it…unless you want to. I’d also like to point out that the photo is the view from my room…not processed or touched up…from a cameraphone. Two words: Magnificent Sunsets.

About an hour south of Darwin just off the Stuart Highway, the road to Katherine, is a Wilderness Resort and Oasis. Catering for budget through high end travelers, they have bungalows sleeping up to 6, lake view spa suites, Motel rooms, Camp-o-tels (permamnat tents) , caravan sites, and tent sites. There is all kinds of recreation on offer, canoes, fishing, bikes, mini golf, bush walking and swimming.

A restaurant, (thank goodness because it is one of the only ones in the region), is on offer. For dinner I had a very interesting, yet delicious Kangaroo Salad Niçoise. If you contact the kitchen, they can make arrangements to provide you with a packed lunch for while you are out exploring during the day. Not too far from Batchelor/Litchfield National Park, it is a great base to experience the region. Prices ranging from 20-$383.
