Celebrating Easter in Hawaii

TIME : 2016/2/25 15:09:18

So many ways to celebrate Easter when you’re in the islands. One of the most popular island traditions is to take advantage of our beautiful weather by attending a sunrise worship service. Find a family-friendly easter egg hunt. Join in a local beach barbecue. Take advantage of the many hotels and Hawaii restaurants serving up holiday brunch, lunch, or dinner options.

Here’s a roundup of just a few things to do on Easter in Hawaii:

Easter on Oahu

110th Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Punchbowl Cemetery – The very popular Easter Sunrise Service at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) begins at 6:15 a.m.; Gates open at 4:30 a.m. – details here.

Other easter sunrise services will be held around Oahu, as well as worship services at various churches island-wide. Here is a master list from 2010, and a variety of services for 2011.

The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani has an Easter dinner buffet at the Pikake Terrace.

Here’s a 2010 list from Honolulu Magazine, many of the same restaurants should have special dining options this year as well. (Will update the link if I can find a 2011 list.)

And finally, a current list from Inside Out Hawaii for the best Easter Brunches in Honolulu.

Easter on Maui

Here is a comprehensive list of 2010 easter events compiled by the Maui News. I’ll post a 2011 list when it becomes available.
