Motel One Amsterdam: High Design on a Budget

Amsterdam’s Newest Hotel Offers High Design at $79 a Night

Ideal for those with more dash than cash, Amsterdam’s latest hotel is a seriously stylish option that won’t break the bank. The newly opened Motel One Amsterdam is part of the German chain Motel One, which is rapidly building a reputation based on its high quality and low prices. Its first hotel in Amsterdam has rooms starting at a modest $79.

Not just focused on serving the budget-minded, the low price comes with high design values. Motel One Amsterdam illustrates the company’s avowed ethos “great design for little money,” and features Egyptian cotton sheets, Loewe flat-screen TVs, and exclusive Artemide Tolemeo lighting in each of its 320 rooms.

It also has a one-off, boutique-hotel ambiance, thanks to the playful Netherlands decor seen throughout. The One Lounge, for example, features arty creations based on tulips, plus some impressive installations crafted from bicycle parts—you’re not likely to forget which city you’re in during your stay.

Even the slightly out-of-center location, opposite Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre, isn’t really a drawback. Its excellent transport links offer fast connections with all the city’s sights.
