Barcelona's New Boutique Hotel is Inspired by 'The Royal Tenenbaums'

Amenities including—but certainly not limited to—a curated library of design journals.

First it was Milan's Bar Luce, and now there's a new space that will extend your Wes Anderson-themed vacation all the way to Barcelona. The Margot House is inspired by one of Anderson's most memorable characters: Margot Tenenbaum of the movie-famed The Royal Tenenbaums. Father-Daughter duo Sandra and Sergio Durany made their debut into the hospitality industry with the understated boutique hotel that pulls inspiration from the character's glamorous and elusive style—think: white-washed walls, cashmere blankets, light wood furniture, raw concrete surfaces, Brompton Bicycle rental service, and a hand-picked library of design journals.

The Duranys give the space an exclusive spin with its clear absence of signage. The hotel is easy to overlook among more publicized spots in the Passeig de Gràcia neighborhood, which is one of Barcelona's most trafficked avenues. This is entirely a good thing for visitors, considering the hotel only accommodates 18 guests at a time. The hoteliers say it best: "If you saw the building where we are located, you would never say that there was a hotel there."
