Madewell

The Madewell guest designer picks out her favorites in the two cities she frequents most.

For Madewell’s second collaboration with beloved French brand Sezane, they decided to focus on two of their (and our) favorite cities: Paris and New York. The collection of casual pieces (think lace, stripes, and silk) is priced from $58 to $238 is available today on madewell.com. In its honor, we asked guest designer Morgane Sezalory of Sezane to share her ideal days in Paris and New York.

New York

Morning coffee: If I miss France I’ll go to Café Gitane, their croissant is as good as a Parisian one!

Park: It’s cliché, but I love spending time in Central Park, and can spend hours watching the squirrels run around.

Concept shop: I’m always inspired by the beautiful things they sell at ABC Carpet & Home.

Lunch: It’s so great to be able to enjoy a great meal at ABC Kitchen after shopping for everything from the store.

Museum: My first time at MOMA there was a big shock, I was so amazed with all the incredible art there.

Afternoon pick-me-up: Our friends from Madewell told us to The Butcher’s Daughter, so we did, every day of our trip. My favorite was the orange simple juice, with tangerine, Valencia orange, and carrot.

Can’t-miss tourist spot: I love seeing the Statue of Liberty before landing. It really means I’m in NY!

Favorite New York-inspired piece in the collection: I’ll wear the t-shirt all summer with our Sezane brut jeans.

Paris:

Morning coffee: Caffé Stern is more of a restaurant than a café but this place is crazy: the food is delicious, and the decoration, by Philippe Stacrk, is really crazy. It’s in a lovely Parisian alley and worth a visit.

Park: The Jardin du Luxembourg is very peaceful and really beautiful, you have families, young people, old people… It’s very Parisian.

Concept shop: I go to Merci for everything, whether it’s for decoration, a small gift, or even a coffee break. You always find something for you or a friend.

Lunch: Clover is the bistrot of a very famous chef in France, Jean-François Piège. It’s a symphony in your plate, at an affordable price.

Museum: What I love most is spending time in the garden of the Musee Rodin. So peaceful and beautiful!

Afternoon pick-me-up: We Are Juice is practically our team’s new headquarters. Their juices are great, with funny names like “We Are Sexy” or “We Are Sporty.” I love their yogurt with homemade granola and fruits.

Can’t-miss tourist spot: The view of Paris from Sacre Coeur is unique, and you feel you’re outside of time there.

Favorite Paris-inspired piece in the collection: Our sandals—I’ll wear them with the t-shirt!
