Slightly north of the Tugela River mouth, Amatigulu Nature Reserve is a delightful spot for those who might want to stay close to the city, yet experience forested, almost jungle-like, surrounds. The reserve itself has reedbucks, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks and kudus, and self-guided walking trails head through different vegetation types, such as grasslands and coastal forest.
