Between Gyeongbokgung's main gate and the throne hall of Geunjeongjeon is this ornate gate with its two-storey hip roofs and flanking corridors enclosing a square through which runs a small artificial stream; for good feng shui a palace should have water in front and a mountain to the rear, which in this case is Bukaksan.
