Next to the prison museum, the unassuming historical museum has displays labelled in English and covers the history of the town and the social history of the Häme region, with information on refugees from Karelia, the lynx, the town fire of 1831, and pop-culture memorabilia. While the reconstruction of a traditional savings bank might not get the pulse racing, it’s the tangible respect for the everyday past that makes these Finnish museums lovable.
