Bulle und Bär Statue
In the square out the front of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange , a sculpture entitled Bulle und Bär depicts a showdown between a bull and a bear in which the former clearly has the upper hoof.

Berliner Stadtschloss Site
The reconstruction of the Prussian royal city palace in central Berlin got underway in June 2013 and is expected to be completed as the Humboldtforum museum and cultural centre in 2019.

This former church is today a museum about the German Peasants’ War and the Reformation. It can be easily reached from the nearby Divi-Blasii-Kirche via the pedestrianised Linsenstrasse.

Oskar Schindler Plaque
Oskar Schindler lived in Regensburg for years, and today one of his houses bears a plaque to his achievements, as commemorated in Steven Spielbergs epic dramatisation Schindlers List .

Konzilgebäude
Look out for the white dormered Konzilgebäude, built in 1388, which served as a granary and warehouse before Pope Martin V was elected here in 1417. Today it’s a conference and concert hall.

Once the property of the Order of the Teutonic Knights, the Deutschherrenhaus is now home to the Ludwig Museum, which showcases post-1945 and contemporary art from France and Germany.

Hauptstrasse is a tree-lined pedestrian shopping street where the Museum der Dresdner Romantik documents the citys artistic and intellectual movements during the early 19th century.

Gertrudenkapelle
The Ernst Barlach memorial in the Gertrudenkapelle displays many of his original works. It is about 300m west of the Pferdemarkt fountain in a large grassy park surrounded by housing.

Anhaltisches Theater Dessau
The Anhaltisches Theater Dessau is a rather pompous neo-Roman structure that was commissioned by the Nazis and is at odds with most of the towns architecture, whether it be Bauhaus or GDR.

Tilly House
Tilly House was a famous Field Marshal in the Thirty Years War, died in 1652 from tetanus (the result of a war wound). Theres a commemorative plaque around the corner on Johannesstrasse.

Predigerkirche
Erfurts churches give an interesting insight into the citys history. The Predigerkirche was completed in 1400, and has regular organ recitals in summer on its reconstructed baroque organ.

Goethe Museum
On the northern edge of the Hofgarten, this modest museum dedicated to the great man of letters is housed in the pretty-in-pink 18th-century Schloss Jägerhof on the parks northern edge.

Michaeliskirche
The old university church boasts a magnificent organ (1652), made by local master Ludwig Compenius, and was a key gathering place of leading local dissidents during the final days of the GDR.

For Zeitgeist-capturing exhibits, swing by the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. It targets the lifestyle-savvy crowd with changing exhibits on fashion, media, design, photography and architecture.

Fridericianum
This excellent contemporary art museum hosts changing exhibitions exploring relevant, topical themes. The historical context of the gallery itself nicely contrasts the works being displayed.

Franziskanerkirche
Wandering down Marktstrasse, youll soon spot the baroque Franziskanerkirche across the Isar. Surrounded by lovely gardens, its blanched interior is enlivened by several beautiful altars.

Castle
Heinrichs former castle is now a museum. It houses a glittering medieval collection , including golden sculptures of arms, medieval capes and the original bronze lion statue cast in 1166.
