At the eastern end of Fire Island, the 1300-acre preserve of Otis Pike Fire Island Wilderness includes a beach campground at Watch Hill; just beware of the fierce mosquitoes and overly inquisitive deer. Avoid feeding them, and don’t get close – they may be cute, but they carry ticks that can infect you with Lyme Disease and other nasties.
