Canadian Museum for Human Rights

TIME : 2016/2/19 4:02:42

Winnipeg's newest major attraction, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, gleams on a high-profile site near Provencher Bridge. Housed in a stunning building, the $310 million complex is the first national museum outside of Ottawa. The focus will be human rights, as they relate to Canada, its culture and the rest of the world. Symbolism abounds, with an enormous glass cloud wrapping around the northern facade, modeled in the image of five dove wings wrapping one over the other.

Set to open in 2014, the museum promises not to duck controversy: an early program examined genocide in Nicaragua.
