Tiny Val-David was a major hippie mecca in the '60s, a hangover still apparent today. The village has two artisanal bakeries, jazz music in its cafes on summer weekends and more than its share of arts and crafts people. The Saturday morning Val-David Farmers Market , directly opposite the village church, is the largest in the Laurentides. The town's tourist office is in a cute old train station alongside the P'tit Train du Nord recreation trail.
