Montreal Science Centre

Educational, interactive and entertaining – that is what the Montreal Science Centre is all about. The museum’s surprising exhibitions use extremely modern and attractive visual scenography to teach both adults and kids about a plethora of topics pertaining to science, technology, ecology and more. Fun for the whole family!
The museum frequently hosts temporary exhibitions, but it also has a fascinating series of permanent collections that are well worth a visit – like the Clic! exhibition, which initiates the 4 to 7 year olds to science by building a house and designing a roller coaster. Mission Gaia, on the other hand, focuses on teamwork in order to find solutions to both environmental and social disasters using sustainable development ideas. And of course, the Montreal Science Centre being located by the river in an old maritime shed meant that there had to be an exhibition dedicated to harbor life – Cargo does just that, by featuring cargo transits, cutaway containers and interactive tools showcasing life of a ship at dock. Last but not least, the Science 26 exhibition features 26 islands and 26 scientific concepts, each one dominated by a letter of the alphabet. 

Practical Info

The Montreal Science Centre is located on the King Edward Pier in the Old Port of Montreal, within walking distance of both Champs-de-Mars and Place d’Armes metro stations on the orange line. Although driving in Old-Montreal isn’t the best idea, those coming in by car can reach the museum via de la Commune Street, where they will find ample parking. Entry costs $15 per adult and $8.50 per child. The museum is open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The IMAX Theater’s schedule varies according to showings.
