            Standing 1308 meters (over 4291 feet) tall in central Hokkaido, Mt. Niseko Annupuri is the eastern peak of the Niseko volcanic group and part of a quasi-national park. In the winter, Mt. Niseko Annupuri it has some of the driest, lightest powder snow in the world, making it a popular destination for snowboarders and skiers from around the world.

In addition, the volcanic activity of the region provides naturally heated water used in several onsen, which are a great way to relax at the end of a long day outdoors. There are 4 resorts around the mountain to serve the needs of all visitors; those coming for the day or staying overnight. Only 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) south of Sapporo, it is easy to reach by public transportation.

            The resorts include Grand Hirafu, which has multiple lifts and many varied ski runs through both forest and clear sections. It boasts a stunning view of Mt. Yotei, referred to as the Mt. Fuji of Hokkaido for its lovely shape. Annupuri Village has gentle slopes with long and wide runs on the southern side of the mountain.

As well as a standard day ski area and restaurants, there are private chalets for rent. Hanazono is located on the eastern side of the mountain, known for its light, dry snow and a good variety of runs.

Niseko Village is the best choice for adventurous, experienced skiers. It is on the south side, and runs have many terrain changes. All the resorts feature restaurants and equipment rentals, and there are shuttle services between them. No matter what your interests, Mt. Niseko is the place for a snowy winter adventure.
